Although the mustangs of the west are well known, it might surprise you to know that there's quite a few wild horse herds on the eastern side of the United States as well... and you can see them in person relatively easily. If you're planning to travel to these areas, it's worth adding these spots[...]

And Back to Tennessee

We had so much fun the last time, we headed down again to see family, and spend some time doing the touristy things. The baby didn't get to meet all of the family the first trip down, so that was a priority this time! After family time, we went to the Hollywood Wax Museum in Pigeon Forge. I hav[...]

Parrot Mountain

Far away, in the depths of Tennesee tourist country, there is a place called Parrot Mountain. It is literally a mountain of parrots. (Okay, maybe it's more like a really big hill, but still, lots of parrots.) We took a little family trip to Tennesee so Bridgette could visit with the grandparents, a[...]

Biltmore Estate

I have wanted to see Biltmore since I found out it existed, and we finally made the trip down. We stayed in Asheville, which is a bit too hippie-ish for my liking, but Biltmore was pretty amazing. The area has been getting a lot of rain recently, and when we first arrived, the driveway to Biltmore[...]

New York City

In the time of my recent silence, I took a trip to New York City! It's so close to me, and yet I've never actually explored the city. I did pass through one time to get on a cruise ship, but I won't count that. I didn't have much of a desire to go before, but Dave said he wanted to go, so off we wen[...]

Sailing to St. Michael’s, MD

On the first leg of our journey, we traveled from Annapolis, MD to St. Michaels, MD. It took 6 hours, a combination of sailing and motoring. Sail-motoring. I would venture to say it's not really easy to get to St. Michaels by car either. On previous sailing trips we have seen houses with seaplane[...]

Sailing

We were supposed to travel down to Key West last week, but hurricane Irma decided to come through and leave a trail of destruction. I'm not so out of touch that I think losing out on a vacation is the most horrible thing that could have happened. Obviously, the people whose homes and businesses[...]

Maryland Renaissance Festival

It's that time of year again - Time for me to set aside my horse-ing so we can do something Dave enjoys. The Maryland Renaissance Festival is the second largest in the country. It just started this last weekend and runs for the next 8 weekends. This past weekend had the theme of "Children's We[...]

Fashion has been inspired by equestrians for a long time, and likely a long time to come. It's a classic, beautiful look. It's form and function. It's sport and elegance. We equestrians like it, and it's nice that others appreciate it too, even if the fashion interpretation isn't always practical.

Next time you have a dirty ride, remember that even at your messiest, you're a fashion icon. You just happen to get up close and personal with dirt.

FINALLY got some mounted photos on my boy! I can't believe it took this long, but I'm happy it finally happened. Stu loved just standing here, it was his favorite part of the whole ride. He's a good stander, and I'm a good sitter, I'm wearing my amazing @syncequestrian breeches so I'm basically glued to him.

Thank you @nataliaornatascha you're so good at this!!

There's nothing like a summer day with horses. You may end up dirty and sweaty, but you'll never be so happy.

Well, after you disappear for a while, reappearing in Iceland is pretty cool. Good thing I now have the travel bug because I still need to ride an Icelandic horse there. But just seeing it was still pretty incredible!
