(Bi)-Weekly Brief April 17, 2020

I have not been writing as much as I’d like. Sometimes life just gets in the way, and makes it really hard to sit down and write uninterrupted. I’ve been spending a lot of evenings doing farm work, which is my normal writing time.

Then I come in to write something, but I am interrupted. Not by an actual interruption, just an inability to concentrate due to sheer exhaustion. Which leads me to…

Chateau YouTube

The all knowing internet noticed my interest in French Chateaus, and decided to recommend Chateau videos. I’m now addicted to watching videos like the one below.

That led me to other chateau videos, and then to “House Tour” style videos of some pretty cool places. It’s incredible to me that some of these places exist, and I can’t even imagine the amount of money that went into creating them. I’ll admit there’s a little bit of envy here.

A Walking Baby

The baby can walk, unassisted. She can’t walk far as she usually loses her balance or trips over the smallest of things, but she’s getting pretty good. Ten feet is the furthest distance she’s walked.

Not too bad for a 1 year, 1 month old baby!

She still prefers crawling if she’s in a hurry. She can crawl very fast, darting around the house. But since she’s not in a hurry, most of the time she walks.

Her favorite pastime is walking her walker back and forth. We created an open space between the living room and the office, and she will pace back and forth with her walker. She also likes to carry different objects with her while she walks, but the walker isn’t really meant for that, so it just falls through the handle to the floor. Then she makes an annoyed sound. She needs a shopping cart toy to push around, so she can carry her luggage with her.

I would like to explore the outdoors with her, but getting baby shoes is a nightmare. Why are baby shoes so expensive?? They are like four inches long!

I found shoes on sale for $15, and I thought I had hit the jackpot. But then the shoes arrived, and it turned out I didn’t understand shoe measurements, and it does not fit. It’ll fit eventually, in like three years, but not yet.

If you’re having a baby, and people are asking you want to get, say BABY SHOES! Because $25 – $50 is way too much for a pair of tiny little shoes they can only wear for a month or so.

(says the horse owner…)

My baby is going barefoot until those feet stop growing! (Not really, she’s not going to be a feral child.) I will grudgingly buy the shoes… eventually. I’m afraid of getting the wrong size, and I can’t exactly run out to the shoe store right now.

Quarantine 15

Can we all just agree that everyone is gaining 15 lbs and be done with it? That way we are definitely all in this together.

Seriously though, I hope everyone is surviving.

Babies dont need shoes to walk, but if you must, little sneakers work best.
