Why I’m so Excited About Skincare

Post contains affiliate links.

I know, I know, this is a horse blog. Why am I talking about skincare? Don’t click away yet, I promise you it’ll be worth it.

I’ve always had pretty bad skin. I had acne from my teenage years to my 20’s. Luckily that went away when I was in my 30’s, but there’s always something to deal with – uneven skin, lots of texture,, and of course the wrinkles. I decided I was going to clean up my act, so to speak, and I started actually researching skincare. Unfortunately a lot of it is really expensive. There’s something emotional about skincare that I think allows companies to charge way more than they should. We’re chasing that elixir of beauty, and they know it.

But I don’t want to spend that kind of money. I have horses, I’m not made of money!

I started doing some research, and I found a recommendation: Korean Skincare. I don’t know exactly why they are different from American skincare, but if I had to guess, I would say they aren’t dominated by like three companies producing everything.

From there, I started searching for Korean skincare, and something popped up for me: a face oil. I’ve never used a face oil before, so I decided to give it a try.

It made a visible improvement in my skin. I have no idea why, but my skin was suddenly smoother and brighter.

Of course, now I’m curious – if one product made such a difference, what would more do? So I bought the entire line of products. They were fairly inexpensive, as far as skin care goes. Between $8 and $16 for each piece (they frequently go on sale). And WOW what a difference. I actually like how my skin looks. I go places without wearing makeup. For the first time, I’m not cringing looking at my skin.

Now obviously, results may vary. I have no idea how it would perform for any one else’s skin. But I am literally in awe of how much it improved my skin, so I had to share. So, if you are interested, this is what I have now:

  • Step 1: Facial cleansing oil. I use it to get makeup off, or just as a skin prep.
  • Step 2 – The Cleanser. It’s foamy and silky smooth and my skin feels great after I wash it off.
  • Step 3 – The Toner: It makes my skin tone so even.
  • Step 4 – The Moisturizing Cream: Finishing touch, and makes my skin so soft.

This is way more steps than I’ve ever done in my routine, but based on the results, I’m fine with that.

If you’re not happy with your skin, I highly recommend it. I love that it’s way cheaper than most skincare brands, so it’s not a huge investment, and you could start with just one like I did. Of course you don’t have to, but I’m just genuinely excited about these products. It feels like a secret that no one is talking about.

And, as always, remember to wear your sunscreen!!!
